It’s India Vs Australia again at World Cup
India Vs Australia World Cup U19: It’s India Vs Australia again, in the big final of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2024. Looks like the déjà vu because just last year Senior team met the World Cup final. This time, the match is happening in Benoni, South Africa, however, the vibes won’t be the same as in Ahmedabad. There is still a huge Indian community in that region, so expect a massive turnaround to support young lads for the final.
India’s under-19 team also won in 2022 so they will be defending their team, which they have won five times before. Australia, on the other hand, last won back in 2010. Previously, Australia faced India twice in finals since then and came up short both times.
Back in 2012, India won led by Unmukt Chand, and then again in 2018, it was under Manjot Kalra’s India won against Australia. So, six years later, Australia is getting another chance at the title, and they facing the team which everyone envies for their youth development programs.
India Vs Australia World Cup U19
In this World Cup, India’s journey has been pretty smooth to the final. It was a simple strategy, just bat first, build the innings steadily, and then go for big hits towards the end. But it was a different story in the semifinal match against South Africa, things got tough. They were facing a decent target, but India’s top-order batsmen struggled against South Africa’s fast bowlers and were reduced to 32 runs for 4 wickets. If not for Captain Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas with a Century stand, which is the highest partnership for the fifth wicket in the history of Under-19 World Cups, made sure India come victorious. India’ Players displayed immense mental toughness and their focus on complete game experience, instead of practice, which has paid off.
Australia’s journey to the final wasn’t stiff either. In their Semi-Final match against Pakistan, they just got through. In the final over, needing just four runs to win with only one wicket left, it was Pakistan’s penalty for slow over rates which meant they had to bring in an extra fielder in the final over. This change worked in the favor of Australia, as Raf MacMillan’s inside edge went for four in the same region winning the game, it was the same region for which Pakistan had to bring the fielder inside the circle, otherwise which would have been a single if there was fielder in that region if not for the penalty. It was a heartbreaking moment for Pakistan’s players.
Sam Konstas as Batsman and Callum Vidler, as Bowler are the stand out players. Callum who’s only 18 bowls at striking speeds of over 140 kilometres per hour. He’s been captivating wickets left and right, displaying his skill and talent on the field.
The performances like these makes this Under-19 World Cup so exciting. Fans can expect to see some promising young talents on both sides when the final match takes place this Sunday, 11 Feb, 2024 at 01:30 PM. You can watch it live on Star Sports and Hotstar.
