Tips on Food to Avoid for Acidity: Bloating, acidity, gases, and constipation are faced by a lot more people now. A hectic lifestyle, bad eating habits, and erratic eating schedules are contributors to increased cases of bloating, gases, acidity, and constipation. Avoiding certain foods and maintaining a healthy eating schedule can help ease these issues.

The digestive system functions to provide body nutrition but if we eat foods that don’t suit our body then it leads to digestive issues like acidity, gases, bloating, and constipation. Medicines are temporary solutions and it is better to make changes in food habits for long-term solutions.

Wheat( Gluten )– Wheat is a heavy grain to digest. It is highly nutritious but it is heavy to digest. Try to avoid it if you have any digestive issues and check for any improvements.

Refined sugar – Refined sugar is the first thing you should avoid eating if you have any digestive issues. It is very addictive and leads to inflammation in the body which can cause heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and impacts insulin sensitivity. It also impacts your mood and energy levels.

Carbonated drinks – They are full of chemicals and sugar. They cause acidity to many people. Avoid them completely for healthy digestive system.

Alcohol – Drinking on a regular basis also causes acidity and bloating. Try to avoid it completely as your body doesn’t like it. In case it not possible to avoid completely then keep it minimum and occasional.

Heavy legumes – Chickpeas (white and black) and beans ( Rajma, Lobhia ) are heavy to digest and have a lot of gases and bloating. Avoid them at dinner at all times.

Diary-based Products– Diary-based products also cause digestion issues. If you constantly face digestion issues after eating them then you should avoid dairy products eg Cheese, Milk etc.

Non Vegetarian Dishes – Non Vegetarian food takes a longer time to digest. You should avoid eating meat, chicken, or eggs on a regular basis if you face digestive issues.

Fermented food items – If you suffer from acid reflux or acidity then avoid fermented foods like idli, dosa

Deep fried food items – Deep fried foods also trigger acidity and acid reflux. Avoid eating them later in the day and in summers. If you must then eat in small quantities

Medicines can subside your symptom but in longer run change in food habits is required.
